I actually haven't checked it much lately and haven't really read it in like a month. Just don't find the latest stuff as interesting, I guess?

Yeah, looked at some of the newer updates and decided to just kick MSPA off my bookmark bar. I just don't like the newer characters that much, the story makes approximately no damn sense anymore, and the chatlog-heavy format recently is outright tiring to read. It's like the really boring filler arc or something.

I'll tune back in when the final battle with Lord English or whatever happens, but until then I'm done with Homestuck.

How does everyone else feel about it? Am I alone here?

I still like Homestuck. I have all sorts of reasons why! I think that Hussie has been pulling out all of the narrative, thematic, and artistic stops recently, I love all of the new characters, I really feel like Act 6 is the payoff for all of the buildup of previous chapters. Lots of people who were big fans before seem to have gotten dissatisfied with it, though. I would offer a defense of my favorite comic here, but it would be pointless. Enjoyment is a thing you feel, not a conclusion you arrive at after logical debate or whatever.

I guess maybe it has something to do with how complicated it's gotten? I understand that criticism, but I don't think Homestuck is any more complicated than your typical shonen anime, Naoki Urasawa manga, video game series canon or superhero canon, and I think the complication is justified given the complex themes that the story explores.

In any case, it's just a comic. Like it or don't, it's no big deal.

Let me just add this: Homestuck gets updated every day, but it's really meant to be read as a serial, like an already-completed comic. If you're frustrated with waiting a day for more confusing revelations that won't be fully contextualized until later, try reading through the comic from Page One again. You'll get an appreciation for how the comic is meant to be paced, the "payoff" will come as quickly as you can click through to it, and you'll notice countless wonderful little details you never saw before. OK. THATS MY PIECE. MY ONE PIECE. PEACE OUT YALL.

I have taken to just looking at the images since I hate the goddamn text logs and the new characters are kinda lame. I just try and piece together the meanings from the ===> names and the images

Still read when I see John and Karkat though.  I sure do with the comic was about them!

I have to agree with Wally - the comic does read a bit better when you can read it as a sort of finished product. I didn't get into Homestuck until most of the way through Act 5. The most interesting parts to me are when the initial kids and trolls are interacting. I'm probably in the minority for enjoying chatlogs, but I've always had more fun reading. I like interesting characters and the chatlogs are where he builds them; I actually find it a bit annoying when he has like 1-2 line chatlogs.

I hope these sporadic updates he refers to will be awesome, because you guys are right - the newest characters just don't compare to the older ones and don't hold my interest as much when they're not interacting with them.

I felt the same way every time a new set of characters was introduced (not really wanting to read the chatlogs) but I kind of feel like I'm warming up to them now. Also Things are actually happening again and thats always nice.
