December 12th: Classics of Game
« on: December 12, 2012, 08:20:17 PM »

For today's hastily thrown-together "content," I went through some of my SNES games that I hadn't played in a while. Let's take a look!

First up, that classic crossover fighter from '93, Capcom X Disney

Welcome to Opening Cinematic!
Brief

Hmm. I don't remember any Pass Words and I don't want to fiddle with any options. Guess our game ends here

Kidding, of course. This will be a short fest but I'm determined to at least show more than the title screen.

I put the hurt on a bulky street thug while some busybody pokes his nose where it doesn't belong. Mind your business, slim.

Every level in the game is populated by these little jars with bird feet sticking out of them. As far as I know there wasn't anything like this in the movie?

KABONG

"ey wassa matter you, huh"

stealth takedown

The good news: every level has at least one magic lamp in it!
The bad news: Aladdin always uses each wish for one third of an extra life

In a distopian future, snakes have gained the ability to charm themselves

...And jump.

I caught a scarab! This little guy will come in handy later...

nice shot :wow: :woah:

Abu makes a cute little pose here. It almost makes up for the fact that he didn't do anything of use during the rest of the stage

SUDDENLY, BEETLE

wh

oh

:cranky:

"where'd he go"

the big flippe

:cranky:

Here's where I remembered that Aladdin can throw apples to stun enemies!

that's one for the frag reel

Next up, Jurassic Park!

...IN 3-D!!

WOOOOOOAH

Brought to by ocean, developer of such fondly-remembered titles as Jurassic Park for the SNES

You have to navigate the main menu with a cursor for some reason? I haven't watched Jurassic Park, so I'll assume that's thematically appropriate and not Completely Arbitrary

"WELCOME TO, JURASSIC PARK" announces nobody in particular.

They just kind of dump you into this field with no instructions or backstory.

However, they do give you a gun that shoots lightning and lots of dinosaurs. I can put 2 and 2 together.

Two bite-sized T-rexes came out to play with me! Hooray!

DINO DAMAGE

i dont know what i was expecting

The button I mapped screencaps to also disabled this message! Luckily I didn't need any more persuasion to shoot dinos indiscrimantly.

aaaaAAAAAA

blasted brambles

lady i dont even know how to pronounce that, let alone what those dinos look like

oh

Let's check out this Mysterious Building

oh no

OH NO

As you might have guessed from the intro, the game is fucking chock-full of these 5 frames per second 3D segments, courtesy the Super FX Chip and Doom

CHICKEN LEG IDENTIFIED

i dont know what i was expecting

blarhghghglghglghgh

looks like this kitchen has just had an... extinction event :smokes:

oh shit

Well, I've had more than enough of this horseshit. Time for a REAL game...

Totally forget about using That Code until just now...

War Was Beginning

see, told you

gripping dialogue

This is actually my first time playing this game! Let's watch the trainwreck:

my dude pullin off some fucking PREPOSTOROUS flips... shit is UNCANNY

Here's me blowing up a really cool Future Car for some reason, or, more likely, no reason at all

It made a grand explosion, though

I got the spread shot! What kind of chump wastes his time aiming in this modern world of ours?

My god... the carnage.... I can't believe they did this to... "Slut's CAFE?" er

Sheesh, that was fast. Well, I'm sure I'll beat the game this time. :arino:

I picked up the barrier from Sonic, evidently.

but it

didn't help

much

Well, that wraps up this little trip down memory lane. See ya next time, kids

Did this part have some "wow cool"-type splash screen jingle with it? I can't imagine them not having tried their hardest to make this sound as cool as it looks.
