Just fought three Big Moth FOEs in one battle... and won. It was about the most epic RPG fight I've had in years. No item went unused, and no command was selected without careful thought. This shit was legendary. My runemaster now wears a Moth Coat with pride.

This... is True Gaming. :jawsome:

Soapr, did you beat the 3rd Stratum B3f boss yet? I know you said you were there. My party is all level 40+ but I'm still getting torn to pieces

I should go kill that beast again, just for old time's sake

he has a special drop too if you can kill him in a single turn, but I don't think that I could do that since my party currently relies way too much on buff/debuffs to do a lot of damage on the first turn

anyway I do have a new strategy for the 3rd Stratum B3F boss I'm gonna try later today, it will just take like a week of in-game time to farm all the items (gonna be making fire resist gear)

Yeah, I've arrived at the door but haven't tried fighting the boss yet. There's an accessory that halves fire damage in the shop that I plan on buying (made from hard shell, dropped by the beetles in the batcave) and I have a rather beastly ice sword (Icy Almace, made from the part dropped by the ice bug FOEs in the overworld) equipped on my elem-damage-up link-happy landsknecht so hopefully I'll be able to get through!

My levels are 37-45. I think I'm good on that front.

Fighting the Boiling Lizard now. Managed to ice stake every scale in the room but one in the corner before the fight. I hope killing the big scale was as helpful as I thought it would be!

Edit 1: Yep, looks like it makes it start with half health. I can dig it. :knuckles:

Edit 2: Had to flee the battle when he was almost dead. I didn't have enough attack-all ice spells to keep the scales frozen. Next time...!

You can use Ice Stakes from inventory to one-shot scales the turn after they appear, if you don't mind fighting the boss from full health ... I couldn't find a path that let me reach the big scale before the lizard caught up to me, so I resorted to this, but he had just waaay too much health. I decided to Rest my characters and go all-in with more streamlined builds of what was working with me previously. Having all the surplus points to dump into the 40+ level tier skills + subclasses has really been a boon so I think with this setup I should beat him next time I try. I also went into it with the five fire rings and a pair of Icy Almates, but too much of my damage was tied up into status effect prerequisites and so I could survive just fine but wasn't whittling him down nearly fast enough to last the whole battle.

I can't believe I never thought to use the ice stakes. Not that I was short on one-shots. Second attempt went much better though. I taught my arcanist blizzard rune and it made all the difference.

To kill the big scale, the small ones have to be killed first of course. And it's not possible to do in one trip through the room without getting into a fight with the big man. I had to revisit the room like 7 times to finally get to the big one... each visit, I would whack one and leave with the lizard one square behind me. I used camouflage and tame ground to keep from getting burned and in fights.

Well, with the above tips, I was able to do it. I was actually able to do it in 4 turns -- thanks to my new secret Burst tech (Black Mist + Blind/Paralyze + Shadow Bite (sometimes triggering a second Shadow Bite + Squall Volley (which never misses a single shot with the above statuses). In my original fight he shrugged off Blind after one turn, but with Black Mist he stayed Blind for turns 2, 3, and the 4th where he died. I was doing like 5000+ damage a turn. :X

I forgot to equip the Fire Rings prior to starting the fight, and almost kicked myself in the head for it, but Mind Break + a Fire Mist + Fire Rune gave me enough fire protection that his initial hit-all only hit everybody for 40. I was able to regen right through all of his attacks without any real healing.

Paused at the #plot# that follows afterwards, going back through the game getting some items I missed and renewing the stock of consumables at the store. I also swapped out my Fortress/Medic for an Arcanist/Medic because I've grown so reliant on status effects and because my Fortress was proving underwhelming. Short of spamming Party Guard, which left him unable to use his shitty heals (poor TEC stat), he just wasn't very good at the job of protecting the party, even with max Taunt. I used one of my two Bushi scrolls to autolevel the Arcanist to level 35, and now she's slowly catching up to the rest of the party. With so much passive health regen I have now, lair crawling is a lot easier and I have to revisit town/use consumables and heal spells a lot less frequently. I get a free heal at the end of every turn a circle is up, Patch Up when I finish the fight, and heals just for every step I take thanks to the Arcanist skill that follows their safe-ground-stepping one. All-in-all happy with the swap of classes!

I took a bit of a break from EO4 because I had the urge to start a new game on Fire Emblem (and I've been p. busy this week) but I will resume EO4 this weekend. I'm midway through the 4th labyrinth.
