(I changed the name of this thread to let it be useful for discussion as well.)

So I beat Mario U earlier today. The final battle was pretty sweet and a nice cap to a fantastic game. I no longer have doubts that this game is SMB3/SMW tier.

Now to get the star coins and unlock some shit...

I agree with Soap. I beat the game last night myself and I felt that everything about this game felt like it was worthy of the rank of SMB3/SMW tier. The stages were quite challenging, but fun at the same time. I highly reccomend playing this game (if you don't intend to buy a Wii U try to bug a friend to play it sometime).

The only thing that felt a little cheap was the boost mode. You could essentially play with a wii mote, then place blocks to get to high places if you were by yourself. It's not a bad concept with friends, but it also cheapens the game a bit. I suggest not doing this and getting the star coins and stuff on your own. It makes the game that much better.

Now on to the extra stages and more hidden stuff I have to find!

7000 Wii Us were lifted right out of a warehouse. Make sure to watch the video and see how many times the reporters can make awful puns

Earthbound's out for the Wii U. Oddly enough it's $10.

They have the entire strategy guide on the website too:

Whoa. Can't say I ever expected them to put the player's guide up like that. Have they done it for any other games?
Title: Re: Wii U thread / Nintendo Network ID list
Post by: Namine on July 18, 2013, 11:26:46 PM
Nope! However keep in mind the Player's Guide was also the manual. Also it's also the only game that came with the guide bundled in, so that could be why they did that. Also might be why it's $10, rather than the usual $7.99.

All Wii U's prices are dropping to 299. That's the best deal though by far. I might grab the digital copy of WWHD on the 20th.

I had forgotten how incredible WarioWare is. great shit. I'm really loving that they're putting GBA games on the Wii U because there are a lot more GBA games I have fond memories of than there are NES games or what have you.

gentle reminder http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-secret-developers-wii-u-the-inside-story

Quote
It started off in the usual way with a look back on how successful the Wii had been and what their intentions were for the new hardware. They wanted a console that was the same size as the Wii and wouldn't make much noise, so "mum wouldn't mind having it in the living room".
...
So a basic comparison/calculation makes the Wii U look, on paper at least, significantly slower than an Xbox 360 in terms of raw CPU. This point was raised in the meeting, but the Nintendo representatives dismissed it saying that the "low power consumption was more important to the overall design goals"

Do Wii U's sound like jet engines when playing games?
That was partly a reason for me never playing my xbox or ps3.
back in my day consoles didnt try to blast off from my floor/entertainment center whenever i got into an intense part of the level.

It's pretty quiet, yeah. I don't think I've even ever been aware of any sound it makes.

Only sound I ever heard was the disc being read, and even then I don't have that problem much cause I'm starting to go digital now.
